New Left Lane Bill Announced In Florida
Someone out there was listening to us when asked why people drive slow in the left lane. A new Left Lane Bill has been announced in Florida.
So someone may have read our story last week and wondered: Why don’t we fine slow drivers in the left lane? Because now Florida has announced a new left lane bill. The new bill will now make it less of a recommendation and more of a ticketable offense. The law in place right now really feels more like a suggestion. Nowhere does it state the penalties if caught cruising in the fast lane. It just calls it a moving violation. But who is really enforcing this? No one, and that’s why you have to move over for Sunday Driving Tony.
The new bill announced will start handing out tickets. Kind of what they were supposed to be doing now, but hey, who am I to judge? The bill was filed by a state senator down from Naples last week. If you know anything about Naples traffic, you may understand why they did this. This law applies to certain roads, streets, and highways throughout the state with two or more lanes and a speed limit of 65 miles per hour.
There are exceptions to the rules of course, so not everyone needs to get in a tissy. If you are passing emergency vehicles, and maintenance crews, and during construction projects, you are good to drive cautiously. If the bill passes through the Florida Legislation, it will take effect next January. [Source WESH]
Florida Comes in at #2 For Highest Auto Insurance Rates
It’s probably not a surprise to you, but we pay way more than our neighbors in other states for car insurance. Drive on Highway 19 or I-4 and it’s not hard to see why. But believe it or not, there is one other state that has to pay more than we do.
ValuePenguin did the research and came up with this list of the 10 most expensive states for full auto insurance coverage. Want the cheapest car insurance? They say move to Maine or Vermont. Even crossing the state line to Georgia can cut your rate in half compared to what we pay in Florida. But avoid these 10 states.
