A Florida man is behind bars after he threatened a bar employee with a machete – because the employee wouldn’t play the karaoke track he had requested.
Cape Canaveral resident Travis Jordan, 39, is facing a disorderly conduct charge in connection with the incident, which occurred Sunday at Kennedy’s Lamp Post Tavern, according to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office. Kennedy reportedly whipped out the 18-inch machete after an employee told him he couldn’t sing another karaoke song, sheriff’s officials say. Jordan told deputies he carries the machete “because he needs to stay alert,” per the sheriff’s office.
“Apparently our friend Mr. Jordan here didn’t fully understand the rules of karaoke,” reads a statement released by the sheriff’s office. “When the stage lights turned off, he tried to force them back on by pulling out a machete he had concealed on him, and demanding to do an encore!”
