How Much It Will Cost to See The Bucs Play The Lions This Weekend in Detroit
It was a packed house at Raymond James Stadium Monday night for the Wildcard round of the NFL playoffs featuring the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Philadelphia Eagles. I mentioned in an earlier post that tickets to this year’s playoff game were about half the price they were last year when the Bucs got curb-stomped by the Dallas Cowboys. You can check out that story here. This year there was a different ending. The team that was “rebuilding” since the departure of the GOAT (Tom Brady), put a hurtin’ on those Eagles. With the final score being 32-9. Pretty impressive since the “experts” picked Tampa Bay to win only 6 games this year.
Now, I want to fly up to Detroit to see my team get some payback. The Detroit Lions came to town back in October and beat the Bucs by a score of 20-6. Ok, I can get airfare for about $300 round trip, but what about tickets to the game itself? Well, that’s where it gets a little tricky. The Detroit Lions haven’t been in the playoffs in 30 years so it’s a pretty popular ticket, not to mention their regular season games are generally sold out.
So how much will it cost to see the Bucs play in Detroit?
The cheapest seats in Fort Field for this game on Sunday, January 23rd are around $700! By the way, did I mention that is for standing room only? The average price for a ticket to this game is gonna set you back between $1000-$2000. OMG, these Lions fans are serious! But wait…there’s more. Someone apparently bought 4 primo tickets in the lower level and spent over $12,000…each! That’s right, someone spent $49,000 for tickets to a football game with a 50% chance that their favorite team loses. I wonder how much that guy will fork out if the Lions make it to the Super Bowl.
So if you want to fly out to the game this Sunday, be prepared to spend at least $1,000 per person and that doesn’t include food, beers, and hotel. Looks like I’ll be watching the game from right here in Tampa Bay. Go Bucs!
