Unconscious Pinellas Deputy Had 9 Bottles Of Whiskey In Patrol Car
It was a crazy scene for sure. A Pinellas County Sheriff’s deputy was found sitting still at an intersection, engine still running, slumped over and unconscious. He was in a marked police cruiser at the time. As the light cycled, drivers behind the patrol car slowly went around and noticed that the deputy appeared to be asleep or out cold. That deputy was 32-year-old Christophoer Greene, who joined the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office back in 2019. Investigators say a search of the vehicle yielded 7 bottles of whiskey, another empty “shooter” bottle of whiskey and an open. partial consumed beer in the center console.
The bizarre case started when officers say deputy Greene stopped for a red light at West Brandon Boulevard and Kings Avenue in Tampa. Instead of taking off when the light changed, Greene passed out behind the wheel. After a short while, a woman walked up to the cruiser to check o the deputy. She observed Greene slumped over in the seat “asleep” and called 911, telling the dispatcher that the deputy appeared to be “passed out”. Once an officer arrived at the scene, Greene came to and began to put his cruiser into drive., but noticed that there was another police car in front of his. Greene briefly wanted to leave the scene, telling the other officer that he was okay. When he “reluctantly” exited his vehicle, the responding officer said he appeared to be “normal”. But things got a little weird after that.
Greene was asked at the scene if he had a medical condition that could have affected his judgement. He said he had recently been diagnosed as diabetic. Another officer decided to drive the cruiser to Greene’s home for him, but found several things inside that made him change his mind. The cruiser contained several bottles of whiskey and an open beer in the center console. Greene was taken to a local hospital for evaluation. But wait, there’s more! During his time at the hospital, Greene was being watched by another officer…but he eluded the officer and escaped. He later told deputies that he had gone to his parents’ house to drink more after leaving the hospital. When tested, Greene’s BAC showed a .234 and a .233. That’s almost 3 times the legal limit in Florida. Based on the results of the tests, Greene was officially fired from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office. He is not facing any criminal charges at this time. Source: WFLA.com
