Huge Change To Florida Gun Law Could Happen Today
It’s difficult to find more controversial issue than gun control, that’s why today is a pretty big day for Florida.
A proposal that would allow Floridians to openly carry guns in our state has a serious chance of passing in the Florida State House today. Without getting into the politics of it all or which side you’re on, here’s what the bill seeks to accomplish. At it’s core, the law would allow Floridians to carry concealed guns in public without any background check or permit to do so. Legislators were quick to point out that only people who were eligible to carry weapons before will be able to carry now if the bill passes. Those who have been deemed ineligible in the past will still be unable to carry a gun in public.
House Bill 543 would allow people to carry weapons without being licensed, as is now the process. No background check or gun safety training would be required, either. The bill also includes portions that deal with increased school safety, such as makiing schools harder targets, threat assessment programs and allowing armed guards in schools. One side of the aisle says the law would allow residents to skip all of the government-mandated programs to get a gun and carry it. The other side says increased guns will mean increased violence. Regardless of where you stand, today could be a big day for Florida law. Source: Fox13News.com
