Cops: Key Largo Man Tried To Steal Entire Food Truck
I’ll admit it, I looooove food trucks. It all started when I stopped for a quick taco at a shiny silver cargo truck in northern California decades ago. The smiling man inside the truck cut up fresh tomatoes, onions and chicken and spread them all across a fresh tortilla. It was a dollar. That taco was indescribably good. I had never had anything like it.
Apparently the man in today’s Florida story can relate. Police say an Arizona man was questioned and arrested after they say he tried to steal an entire food truck in Key Largo, Florida. According to investigators, officers responded to a report of a man acting suspiciously in a parking lot on Overseas Highway at about 6 a.m. on Monday morning. When they arrived at the scene, police say they observed a man driving a food truck erratically. Suspecting that the driver was attempting to steal the food trailer, they stopped and questioned the man. Deputies made contact with 42-year-old Steven McClelland, who was in the middle of hooking up the food truck to the bumper of his vehicle. McClelland admitted that he was trying to steal the trailer.
But it got worse for the suspect. Deputies also found a small glass pipe with methamphetamine in it during a routine search during his arrest. That means McClelland was charged with attempted grand theft of a motor vhicle, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. The man remains in custody and is awaiting trial.
