Florida Man Tries To Lose Cops On Lawn Mower
We’ve all seen the videos on TV or YouTube. A chase is in full effect. A vehicle is speeding through traffic, veering and changing lanes wildly, ever on the edge of losing control. Meanwhile, a huge tail of police vehicles sways and attempts to keep up, negotiating narrowly between other cars, trucks and crowded intersections. The chases normally end with a spectacular crash as the fleeing vehicle runs a red light or hits a strip of stop sticks. A key part of fleeing and eluding is being able to go fast, so you’re gonna need a car or truck that is capable of going fast and flipping upside down into a telephone pole in a dramatic fashion. No one wants to impede traffic by going 25 in a 55 in a subpar getaway vehicle. The rules were changed last week, however, when a Florida man attempted to lose officers during a low=speed chase on a riding lawn mower. True, the mower was a late-model John Deere (and we all know that NOTHING runs like a Deere). That wasn’t enough to allow the man to escape. Police say 40-year-old Dusty Mobley has been charged with grand theft, criminal mischief resisting an officer possession of a concelaed weapon possession of a handcuff key and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police say Mobley is the same man who was involved in a chase back in January, when police arrested him after he tried to escape while being questioned about a stolen boat. This time around, authorites say the man was caught shortly after a building had bene broken into and a lawn mower had been stolen. When police found the man, they say the suspect tried to elude them. The man was apprehended after a very short chase. Police say a search of the man revealed a gun, a handcuff key and a pipe with methamphetamine residue in it. Mobley remains in jail. Source: WEARtv.com
