Florida Man Drinks Beer During Traffic Stop
It was a little before midnight when two Lee County Sheriff’s deputies approached the black Mercedes. The car was sitting still, but had the headlights on. As the officers inched closer, they turned on their flashing lights and spotlight, thinking the vehicle may have been abandoned.
The deputies got out of their cruiser and moved toward the car, not knowing what to expect. That’s when they saw Florida man, sitting alone in the passenger side, surrounded by empty beer cans. An entire 24-pack of Michelob Ultra was ripped open and most of the cans were now empty and spread all over the floor and filled the cup holders. In the middle of the crushed aluminum vessels was 40-year-old Michael Serada. When the deputies tried to talk to Serada, they say he was unable to have a conversation with them due to intoxication. Considering the situation, the deputies decided to call for backup. As the officers waited for backup, they stood beside the car and kept an eye on the man. That’s when they heard the familiar sound of a can being opened.
When they looked inside the vehicle, they saw Serada sitting in the seat and sipping on a fresh can of Michelob Ultra. Turns out, the man was able to find a full can of the frothy beverage in the pile of crunched and discarded empties. Deputies reached into the car and grabbed the beer, but the man put up a struggle and the officers removed him from the car. Once Serada was in handcuffs, he continued to resist, even being tased at one point. Deputies noted that the taser did nothing to subdue the man. They eventually had to utilize the arriving officers to get the man restrained. Serada was taken to the Lee County Hospital for scratches and scrapes that were incurred during the struggle. After that, he was arrested and taken to the Lee County jail. He now faces a charge of DUI and resisting an officer. Source: NBC-2.com
