Florida Man Tries To Rob Publix With A Stapler
MacGyver was really good at using what he had at his disposal to accomplish his goals. He could use a piece of old Hubba Bubba and a paper clip to build a makeshift dirty bomb out of it. But Florida man is also a formidable force. When he wants something, he can get creative with the best of them.
In today’s story, Florida man decided he wanted to rob a Publix location in Miami. The only problem was, he didn’t have a gun. That’s when he decided to think outside the box. Police say the man walked into a Publix and handed a note to an employee. The note said the man had a gun and that he wanted all of the money they had to be placed in a bag amd handed to him. Instead of gathering all of the cash together, the employee walked away and told another employee what was happening. Police were called and the man left the building.
Investigators say 31-year-old Patrick Abbott left without getting any cash and was apprehended shortly after he left the scene. Cops nabbed the man as he was trying to throw away the note he used during the attempted robbery. When Abbott was arrested, a search revealed what the man had used for a weapon during the failed scheme, a small black stapler. The report did not mention if the stapler was loaded.
At the time of his arrest, Abbott was out on bond for allegedly abusing a baby. The charge stemmed from a previous incident where he was accused of dropping a baby several times while it was in his care. Abbott now faces an additional charge of armed robbery. Source: WFLA.com
