Tampa Has A Dirt Bike/ATV Problem
Ever been passed by a dirt bike or an ATV while driving on a city street in Tampa? You may have wondered how they were able to drive an offroad vehicle on public roads. The answer is, they can’t…legally. Those same offroad vehicles have caused lots of crashes, even deaths. Because the vehicles are not street legal, they don’t have insurance and the drivers are not driving legally. That means if you get involved in an accident with or due to one, you are S.O.L. In 2020 alone, police received almost a thousand complaints about the vehicles. Most calls were pertaining to dirt bikes, while a distant second was due to ATVs on the road. City officials have vowed to step up the impounding of vehicles over the next 3 months and then get together to review the results. They hope that people who lose their investments will stop driving illegally on our streets. – Sean Roberts
