Pasco Deputy Shoots & Kills Suspect Who Dragged Him 150 Feet
The Pasco County Sheriff’s Department says one of their deputies shot and killed a man after a wild chase and shootout over the weekend. Investigators say the story began when a deputy responded to a call about a suspicious vehicle at a local motel early Saturday morning. The deputy stopped the vehicle for an investigation at about 12:45 am. The officer said as soon as the man stopped his car, he jumpoed out and acted very aggressively to the officer. A fight occurred. As the two men fought and wrestled, the officer’s camera was dislodged. As the fight continued, the suspect made an attempt to get back to his car. The officer still had a hold on the suspect as he got in his car and tried to flee. As the car sped off, the deputy was dragged for about 150 feet. The deputy stated that during the dragging, the man was reaching under the seat for something he could not see. The deputy commanded the man to stop the car and to stop reaching under his seat, but the suspect ignored him. The deputy was finally able to reach his pistol, which he fired at the suspect three times, causing the car to stop. The man was handcuffed, treated and arrested on the scene, but later died from his injuries. Deputies say the man’s identity has not been named publically, though they say he has a lengthy record and was a known gang member. They went on to say that the man had 43 arrests, some with weapons charges and others with drug chargess. No deputies or citizens were injured. Source: Fox13News.com
