Saint Pete Gets a Taste of Down Under
We will avoid any Aussie jokes in this post, we promise. An Australian brew pub has just opened up in downtown St. Pete.
Where Jubes is located at 277 Central Avenue is the brainchild of Australian-born restaurateur, Josh Cameron. When he saw the location of the former Lucky Dill Deli, Cameron was reminded of his homeland of New South Wales where many pubs are historic two-story buildings chock-full of character. He bought the location and proceeded to make his dream of a brew pub a reality.
“It’s a modern, industrial buildout but with the warmth of Boston’s Cheers,” says Cameron. “Our culture is customer-first. The warm hospitality and a feeling of familiarity for our guests are what we’re aiming for.”
Where’s Jubes features a large center bar, industrial steel, four brew tanks, and extensive outdoor lounge seating. They plan on having eight to twelve different varietals, with names paying homage to Cameron’s native land. There will also be craft cocktails on the menu for the non-beer crowd. Looking for eats? Where are Jube plans to have food service in the near future?

Cameron knows a little bit about the Tampa Bay restaurant scene. His company also owns and operates The Oyster Bar and Crafty Squirrel in downtown St. Pete in addition to A Mano Italian Ristorante and Our Bar.
If you’re wondering about how Cameron came up with the name of this downtown St. Pete Australian brewpub, it’s a nod to his childhood nickname, Jubes. [SOURCE St.Pete Rising]
