A man was able to successfully sue a razor company after cutting himself shaving. He won more than $6,000!
Now, don’t go thinking you can do this any time you cut your face shaving. It’s quite common and all razor companies would go out of business if that was truly the case. Cutting yourself shaving is a lso one of the reasons I have opted to sport a beard. It happens too often and it really stings! I’ll just let it grow. The 48-year-old man who was able to sue a razor company after cutting himself shaving has been identified as Nick Silverthorn, from the United Kingdom. He reportedly was paid $6,250 from the razor company after suing.
How Did A Man Win Money Suing A Razor Company?
According to The New York Post, Silverthorn visited a local Sainsbury’s store to buy a $3 Men Advance 3 razor. When he used that razor reports say he cut his face. He tells The New York Post, “I put on the hot tap and my shaving lotion and I was on autopilot. I started shaving on one side with one stroke and then another stroke on the other side. I noticed after a few seconds that I had started bleeding badly on my left cheek and then on my right hand side as well and before I knew, it was streaming down my face.” He then looked at the razor and noticed that one of the blades was detached in the razor head, per The New York Post.
That could have been very dangerous! It could have done some significant damage–and to the face. Ouch. He then took pictures of his face and the product for evidence. He contact product liability and was eventually connected to the manufacturer of the razor, Wilkinson Sword. That’s one of the biggest companies in the industry. According to The New York Post, they ended up settling for $6,250.
Jack Klein, a product liability expert with Express Solicitors tells The New York Post, “Not many people who cut themselves shaving would think to sue one of the world’s biggest razor companies. But Nick did and by keeping the razor as proof he won a settlement. It just shows that if you are injured by any product there may be a valid claim no matter how big the company are.” So, if you ever cut yourself shaving, which you will, maybe check to see if it was user error or perhaps a problem with the razor. You might be able to find a settlement for yourself like he did! Anything is possible.
