Lightning Player Responds To Boston Announcer’s Comment About His Weight
Tampa Bay Lightning forward Pat Maroon had something to say about a comment made in last night’s Boston broadcast. The Lightning player responded to Boston announcer Jack Edwards in the best way possible. Apparently during last night’s game the Boston commentator made a nasty comment about Pat Maroon’s weight. Patty isn’t new to these comments. Many Florida Panther’s fans were calling him “fat Pat” throughout the playoffs last year.
The Bruins broadcaster made this comment in the first period of last night’s game “Listed at 238 pounds — that was day one of training camp. I gotta feeling he’s had a few more pizzas between then and now,” Edwards said on air. “Inadvertent fasting for Pat Maroon is like four hours without a meal.”
But that didn’t stop Pat Maroon from making the classiest come back ever. In response to the nasty comment about his weight, Pat Maroon donated $2,000 to Tampa Bay Thrives in Jack Edwards name. Tampa Bay Thrives is a local nonprofit that helps those struggling with mental health issues.
In support of those struggling with mental health, bullying and body image I am making a 2,000 donation in the name of @realjackedwards to @TampaBayThrives and I encourage @TBLightning and @NHL fans to join me. Donate here: https://t.co/ZEbWHw6Cqv

Maroon wasn’t the only Lightning player to hop in on the action. Tampa Bay Lightning captain Steven Stamkos also donated to the nonprofit as well.
Well done Patty…. Donating now! https://t.co/4dNTFSbJwA

Can’t deny that this is a super classy move from Pat Maroon. Hopefully more Lightning fans will join in on the action and turn a negative comment into a positive outcome. If you’d like to donate, click here.
