How many can you guess before peeking? I’ll bet you know #1, but #2 might surprise you! It did me. These statistics come to us from the U.S. Census. These are the top ten states people left in 2019 to move to Florida.

Apparently they weren't singing "My Kind of Town." About 24,000 moved from Illinois to Florida in 2019. Might be because we have so many Portillo's locations now in the Tampa area. Even Orlando has one now.
Florida was the 2nd most popular state to move to for Virginians.
Far more actually moved from Florida to Texas, but about 26,000 Texans moved here in 2019.
About 28,000 North Carolinans moved to Florida in 2019. But actually more people moved from Florida to North Carolina!
I mean... can ya blame 'em? ;-)
This one was a bit of a surprise to me. We don't have a lot of west coast transplants. They're usually from the north. But just under 30,000 made the cross-country move in 2019. Conversely, about 22,000 moved from Florida to California.
Florida was the top destination for those moving from Ohio... about 30,000 in 2019.
Now you know why you see all those Eagles and Flyers jerseys. I can't hate on 'em too much though. If we didn't have all the Pennsylvanians moving here, we might not have Delco's Cheesesteaks in Dunedin.
Our neighbor to the north sent just under 50,000 to us, working out to about 9% of those who moved here. Florida was the most common move for Georgians to make in 2019.
No surprise here right? In 2019, 57,488 moved to the Sunshine State from NY... that's almsot 10% of the people who moved to Florida.
