Good News & Bad News For Fans of The Manatee Viewing Center in Apollo Beach

With the cold temperatures we’ve had in the Tampa area over the past couple weeks, you might have considered doing the drive down to Apollo Beach to see the manatees at Tampa Electric’s Manatee Viewing Center. When temperatures drop below 68 degrees you can usually spot those adorable creatures swimming where the power plant discharges warm water.

Well, I’ve got good news and bad news for you. First the bad news.

Don’t do the drive. Thanks to our old friend coronavirus, they didn’t open last month. But they still hoped to open at some point this season. Unfortunately with the COVID-19 uptick, they’ve decided to put off opening until next fall. The likely opening date with be November 1, 2021, according to Channel 8. [Source: Channel 8]

So what’s the good news? The cameras are running so you can still watch them swim around anytime you like with just a click. There are two cameras. The east camera usually has some good viewing!

  One of the few concerts of 2020 will be in Clearwater at Ruth Eckerd Hall. Capacity is being limited to 50% and tickets are only available in pairs.

  The man with the voice behind Men at Work's biggest hits will two shows at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater.
• June 21: Backstreet Boys

  The Bucs' biggest fan Nick Carter is bringing his Backstreet Boys home to Tampa for a show at the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre in Tampa.

• September 8, 2021: The Black Crowes

  Back together again at the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre in Tampa.

• June 18 & 19: Motley Crue, Def Leppard, Poison and Joan Jett

  Miami's show will be on June 18. The next night the tour comes to Orlando. Then the tour moves north but comes back to Florida for a show in Jacksonville on July 2. Unfortunately still no word of any Tampa dates for the tour.
• July 2, 2021: Chicago

  We have the new date in 2021, but some bad news too. The concert will happen July 2, 2021, but it will be without Rick Springfield. The show will be at the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre in Tampa

• June 3: The Doobie Brothers

• August 6, 2021: Matchbox 20

  What a cool 90s throwback show with The Wallflowers ("One Headlight"). The show has been moved to August 6, 2021 at the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre in Tampa.
• February 16, 2023: Rod Stewart

  Rod is back again in Tampa! This time at the Seminole Hard Rock to kick off 2023.

  Figured you oughta know that the show has been postponed until August 17, 2021 at the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre in Tampa.

• August 27: Santana with Earth, Wind & Fire

  This is the rescheduled date for the show that was originally scheduled for August 2020 at the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre in Tampa.
• September 20, 2021: Daryl Hall & John Oates

  It'll be a big night of familiar Q105 classics at the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre in Tampa.

• September 24, 2021: Maroon 5

  Adam Levine is back on the road with the band. Meghan Trainor opens at the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre in Tampa.

• October 30, 2021: Enrique Iglesias

  This is a rescheduled date. Ricky Martin ("La Vida Loca") co-headlines this one at the Amway Center in Orlando.
• December 4: Jimmy Buffett

  If you've been to a Buffett show, you know the real show isn't on stage, it's in the crowd. This will be the 3rd attempt at making this concert happened. Jimmy had shoulder surgery that postponed the concert in 2019. Then our friend COVID-19 meant a postponement of the rescheduled 2020 concert at Amalie Arena in Tampa.

• April 24: Elton John

  At this point, we're used to Elton John shows being pushed back a time or two! Here's the rescheduled performance date for Amalie Arena.

• October 29: The Rolling Stones

  Finally! The rescheduled performance date at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa! The Stones were originally set to play Ray J July 5, 2020. Tickets are on sale now. Tickets for the previously scheduled show will be honored.
• October 17: Pat Benatar

  This was one of the first concerts announced during the pandemic. It has since been pushed back a few times. Here's the new date at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater.

• Cancelled: Cher

  Share

  The concert was originally set for March 26. Cher hoped to reschedule, but given the uncertainty of how long we'll be dealing with coronavirus, she has decided to cancel the show so fans can get refunds.
