Rare Chance To Skate On The Ice at Amalie Arena
Ever wanted to put on the skates and do a few laps on the same ice Steven Stamkos works his magic? Moffitt Cancer Center is giving you that chance. They’re doing another Skate-A-Thon at Amalie Arena on Sunday, February 25, 2024. It’ll be a rare opportunity for you to hit the ice at Amalie and help raise money for the great work Moffitt does.
Stamkos and other current Tampa Bay Lightning players will not be there for the event… but for a valid reason. They’ll be in New Jersey to take on the Devils. But Lightning alumni and ThunderBug will be on the ice with you. So you’ll get to meet some Bolts legends and get an on ice selfie with the Lightning mascot.
Don’t have skates?
No problem. They’ll provide you with a pair. But if you do have skates, I’d bring those just in case they run out of your size. There will be two 75 minute sessions to choose from at noon and 1:45PM.
Ticket Info
Tickets are $35 for adults and $20 for kids 8 and under. Not so great on skates and would just like to watch and support Moffitt and the skaters? A non-skater pass is available for $10. Use this link to get tickets.
Has it been a while since you skated?
They will sell only a limited number of passes for this event, but since the chance to skate on Amalie Arena ice is so rare, it probably will be crowded. If it’s been a few years since you’ve been on skates, it might be a good idea to visit another local rink to get some practice. I love skating at the Clearwater Ice Arena on Ulmerton. There’s usually at least one public skating session every day this time of year. The first is usually during lunchtime and then they often have an evening skating session around 8pm. Public skating sessions run for about 2 hours. There are also public skating sessions at the Countryside Mall in Clearwater and at the TGH Ice Plex in Tampa on weekends.
