13 Florida Cities Are Among The Top To Own A Vacation Rental
LawnStarter recently published a study that detailed which cities are best for having a short-term rental property, and Florida had thirteen cities named in the list.
This study comes as the market is changing; smaller cities are producing better results for vacation rental owners than large cities. In fact, LawnStarter also names college towns as being good areas to own a vacation rental.
To determine the results, they identified six different categories to rate 180 of the biggest cities in the country. “We considered legal restrictions on short-term rentals, occupancy rates, and revenue potential,” they state. Safety, entertainment options, and operating expenses were also considered.
The results show that cities in Florida offer great opportunities to own a vacation rental. Here is a breakdown of where these areas of the Sunshine State ranked among the best 180 places named.
- Miami #27
- Tallahassee #35
- Cape Coral #38
- Tampa #45
- St. Petersburgh #71
- Hialeah #84
- Jacksonville #108
- Port St. Lucie #114
- Miramar #123
- Hollywood #134
- Orlando 139
- Fort Lauderdale 146
- Pembroke Pines 150
Florida’s Best Results
Hialeah tied for first in the category of highest occupancy rates. This city also had the lowest average daily short-term rental rate. On a not-so-positive note, Port St. Lucie had the highest average housekeeping cost. In addition, Miramar is tied with four other cities nationwide for having the fewest attractions.
Overall, these Florida cities that made the list for having the best short-term rental property opportunities are all unique in their own way. Those interested in Orlando would obviously attract tourists who may have theme park interests. Miami, which was the highest rank of any Florida city, would also draw a heavy vacation or weekend getaway crowd. Those who are looking for renters seeking a quiet getaway would most likely align with Miramar or Pembroke Pines. Lastly, there are also places that offer the option to do both. Tampa and St. Petersburgh are often featured on monthly rental sites such as Barsala offer travelers a fully furnished apartment.

As a result, they assigned a score and totaled them up. The categories were; happiness, safety, leisure activities, scenic views, friendliness, food, and drink.
What Exactly Is A Babymoon?
Being able to eat uninterrupted and with both hands will soon be considered a luxury. A babymoon is all about relaxation and spending quality time together. “This is a great opportunity to celebrate the new adventures on the way while taking care of yourself and your own needs,” Healthline explained in their recent “What Is a Babymoon?” story.
“For the most memorable experience, try to plan a babymoon when you feel your best, which for many women is during their second trimester,” Healthline states when discussing when to take a babymoon.
In Florida, the five destinations that ranked among the top 20 places to go for a babymoon are all very different from each other.
