A Clearwater, Florida man has been accused of ‘Bible Belting’ a Walgreens worker! Now, it’s probably not the Bible Belt that we’re familiar with. This is not a region of the country. It was an act of violence.
This is the first time I’ve heard the term. Here’s more on the story.
Man Accused Of ‘Bible Belting’ Walgreens Worker
According to The Smoking Gun, the manager of a Walgreens store suffered a Bible belting because she was “being rude,” according to an angry customer who’s now facing a felony battery charge.
Peter Owens is now in a lot of trouble after he let his temper tantrum get a little out of control. You can’t go around hitting people with the Bible because you think they’re being rude! That’s not allowed. It’s definitely illegal.
A criminal complaint from the incident says that Owens and the manager got into a verbal altercation after the manager asked him to leave the store. That’s when he struck the manager in the face with the Bible in his hand before exiting the store, per The Smoking Gun.
Well, this isn’t Owens first problem with the law. It turns out he also has a 2020 conviction in Michigan for assault and battery, according to The Smoking Gun. That’s why this incident was elevated to a felony charge.
It’s scary that people are comfortable just striking people with items when they disagree with you. Especially out in public where you know there are cameras and other people. You’re just asking for trouble and problems. Owens’ Facebook account says he’s a Wayne State University graduate and a Grosse Pointe, Michigan native who now lives in Ellenton, Florida, per The Smoking Gun.

Cort Freeman was born and raised in Metro Detroit. He was named Clarkston High School 2009 Class Clown 13 years after graduating. Totally normal thing to happen. That’s thanks to his time spent as an Intern at Comedy Central and Social Media Correspondent for The Colbert Report. Cort has done comedy across the country, both standing up and sitting down. When he’s not trying to make you laugh on-air and online, he’s probably at home enjoying his favorite shows like Seinfeld, South Park, and The Office. He’s also totally uncomfortable writing about himself in the third person. Cort enjoys writing about comedy, food, sports, and entertainment. So, basically anything and everything.
