Talk about the wrong place at the wrong time. Or…could it be the right place at the right time? It likely depends on your perspective and how Darksided your sense of humor can be. An impaired driver destroyed a “Report Impaired Drivers” sign in Australia.
What are the chances that they would happen to hit that sign? Not very likely! Here’s more on the story.
Impaired Driver Destroys ‘Report Impaired Drivers’ Sign
First, there’s nothing funny about drinking and driving. Just commenting on the timing and placement of the accident that’s wildly coincidental, or even ironic. I get the two confused because of Alanis Morissette.
According to CBC, West Shore RCMP said they received a call from a witness who told police they had seen a vehicle speed onto a public sidewalk and then crash into the sign before driving away. They abided by the “report impaired drivers” sign that had just been struck by the vehicle.
When police arrived to the scene, they reportedly found the sign destroyed on the ground along with a license plate from the vehicle! Yes, if you get into an accident sometimes parts of your car can be left behind. Typically, it’s something like a bumper or something like that. It’s not always something that’s going to be able to immediately identify you like a license plate. Again, a good reason not to flee the scene of a crime (which you should never do)!
CBC reports police located the driver shortly afterwards and brought the missing license plate along with them. According to CBC, RCMP Cpl. Nancy Saggar said, “It’s just ironic, right? The one sign you crash into happens to be a ‘report impaired drivers’ sign? And then you leave your license plate behind–it’s like you’re just begging to be caught.” Okay, so it is ironic! That clears that up.

Cort Freeman was born and raised in Metro Detroit. He was named Clarkston High School 2009 Class Clown 13 years after graduating. Totally normal thing to happen. That’s thanks to his time spent as an Intern at Comedy Central and Social Media Correspondent for The Colbert Report. Cort has done comedy across the country, both standing up and sitting down. When he’s not trying to make you laugh on-air and online, he’s probably at home enjoying his favorite shows like Seinfeld, South Park, and The Office. He’s also totally uncomfortable writing about himself in the third person. Cort enjoys writing about comedy, food, sports, and entertainment. So, basically anything and everything.
