Woman Trains Her Dog To Respond To Harry Potter Spells
Toronto resident Audriana Li runs a popular account on Instagram and TikTok called @dobbyisafreedoodle. A clever name, if you’re familiar with Harry Potter. Dobby is a house elf in the movies.
In a now viral clip, Li says, “I knew long before Dobby came along that I would train my future dog with ‘Harry Potter’ spells instead of regular commands. I love feeling like I have real-life magical powers every time I ask him to come, stay, or play dead.”
In this short video, Li reveals the 15 spells she taught her dog from the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. She taught Dobby “Accio” which is a spell to make something come. Fitting for a dog. According to the New York Post, he also understands that “expelliarmus” means “Drop it.” Again, fitting because expelliarmus is a disarming spell. Additionally, he knows “wingardium leviosa” means “jump.” In the books and movies, that spell can levitate items. She’s spot on with all of these spells and charms! Then, when told “go to Azkaban” that means go to your crate because you’re in timeout. That is hilarious. Azkaban is the famous prison in the wizarding world.
Of course, “play dead” is “Avada Kedavra” the killing spell in the movie. It’s an unforgivable curse, but she decided to teach it to her dog, anyways. According to The New York Post, the other spells she taught Dobby include:
- Relashio – back up
- Stupefy – lay down
- Confundus – spin
- Ascendio – go up the stairs
