Jonathan Majors Found Guilty of Assault and Harassment

Jonathan Majors has been found guilty of one count of assault and one count of harassment. He was acquitted of two other counts of assault and aggravated harassment in a split verdict Monday (December 18). Per ABC News, the Marvel star’s misdemeanor charges come from a March altercation in New York City with his then-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. The verdict came after about 5 hours of deliberations over three days. The mixed verdict is a result of the jury believing Majors, 34, recklessly assaulted his ex-girlfriend but did not intentionally do so. Footage of the night in question was widely circulated on social media and was shown to the jury. The mixed decision found Majors didn’t commit aggravated harassment inside the SUV the two were in.
However, outside the vehicle, you see the Creed III actor picks Jabbari up off the ground and throws her back inside the vehicle. According to the news outlet, Majors did not appear to react as the verdict was read. He was joined in court by his girlfriend, Meagan Good. The actor is scheduled to be sentenced for the two guilty counts on February 6. The judge renewed an order of protection that prevents Majors from having any contact with Jabbari.
As we previously reported, during Jabbari’s testimony, she recounted incidents of alleged abuse. She said that the actor “threw glass candles at her head when she asked if he was OK, didn’t speak to her for days because she went to a music festival.” Additionally, he “berated her for mentioning an ex-boyfriend.” An audio clip of Majors yelling at Jabbari was played in court. In it, he complimented himself on being a “great man” and said that he wanted a woman like Michelle Obama.
Prosecutors claimed Majors inflicted a “manipulative pattern of psychological abuse” and physical abuse on Jabbari that happened that night in March in the SUV that left her with a cut behind her ear and a broken finger. Prosecutor Michael Perez said during opening statements that Majors “grabbed and squeezed her hand, her right middle finger specifically.” He also “struck a blow that swiped across the right side of her head.” Jabbari told the court that on the night of the incident, she said her head was resting on Majors’s shoulder in the SUV as he was scrolling on his phone when a message popped up saying: “I wish I was kissing you.”
Shocked at what she saw, Jabbari said she grabbed his phone and turned away from him. At that point, she said she “felt a heavy thud on top of me. What I knew to be the weight of him on top of me and him trying to pry the phone out of my fingers.” She described Majors pulling her right hand behind her back while holding the phone in her left hand.
Netflix Shares 2023's Most-Hours Spent on Films and TV Shows
Right before the end of the year, Netflix shared new information about their viewers. Since launching their weekly Top 10 and Most Popular lists two years ago, the streaming giant has been providing more information about what people are watching. On Tuesday (December 12), Netflix published their What We Watched: A Netflix Engagement Report, which is a comprehensive report of what people watched on Netflix over a six-month period (January to June 2023). They took into account the hours viewed for every single title they have as their original content as well as licensed content that was watched for over 50,000 hours, the premiere date for the content, runtimes, and whether a title was available worldwide.
In total, this new report covers more than 18,000 titles — representing 99% of all viewing on Netflix — and nearly 100 billion hours viewed. Over 60% of Netflix titles released in the first six months of the year simultaneously appeared on their weekly Top 10 lists. So, while this report is broader in scope, the trends reflected similarly mimic those in the Top 10 lists. For example, television series Ginny & Georgia, Alice in Borderland, The Marked Heart, Outer Banks, You, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, XO Kitty, and films Murder Mystery 2 and Extraction 2. Meanwhile, new series like The Night Agent, The Diplomat, Beef, and FUBAR generated huge audiences. Non-English stories garnered 30% of all viewing, and older, licensed titles were in demand from Netflix. 55% of viewing came from Netflix films and series, while 45% came from licensed titles, like Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, and Suits.
Netflix said in their report that this would be bi-annual data that would show the engagement of their viewers. They claim that the information provided will “give creators and our industry deeper insights into our audiences and what resonates with them.” Take a look below at Netflix’s 7 Most-Viewed Items for the first half of the year:
