Residents of Laguna Niguel expose their buttocks during the 30th annual "Mooning of the trains" event along a stretch of railroad track in Orange County, south of Los Angeles on July 11, 2009. Local legend has it the tradition began in 1979 when customer K.T. Smith offered to buy a drink for anyone who would run outside and moon the next train. Since then, on the second Saturday of each July, people have lowered their inhibitions and their underwear and pressed their naked buttocks up against a wire fence as the trains go by. A man decided to moon the traffic helicopters above him during a live news report covering a police chase in Los Angeles. The news reporter seemed annoyed and unimpressed by the man’s decision to show everyone his ass. No one was injured in the chase and the man who showed off his moon wasn’t identified.
Record Store Day (RSD) 2023 is on April 22, and the list of titles being released features some impressive artists.
As in recent years, releases are broken up into three different categories:
–RSD Exclusive: These titles are physically released only at indie record stores.
–RSD First: These titles are found first at indie record stores but may be released to other retailers or webstores at some point in the future
–LimitedRun/Regional Focus: These titles are either regionally based and sold at specific stores or are press runs under 1000, which means they may be harder to find at record stores around the country.
Without further ado, the following are 46 titles we think you might want to add to your shopping list. The full titles list can be found at RecordStoreDay.com where you’ll also be able to find a list of participating stores.
