Will Smith & Martin Lawrence Reuniting For ‘Bad Boys 4’
The boys are back! Will Smith and Martin Lawrence will be reprising their roles for the fourth installment of their Bad Boys franchise. Smith and Lawrence shared a clip to their social media accounts Tuesday confirming the news.
“IT’S ABOUT THAT TIME!” both stars captioned the video. The video began with Smith recording himself driving to Lawrence’s home with the song “Shake Ya Tailfeather” by Nelly, Diddy, and Murphy Lee from the Bad Boys soundtrack playing in the background.
Lawrence greeted Smith at his door where he asked, “It’s about that time?”
The two cheered and Smith confirmed saying, “It’s about that time!”
“It’s official, y’all,” he continued. “Bad boys for life, baby!”
Smith put up his four fingers seemingly suggesting that the film will be called Bad Boys 4 Life when Lawerence reminded him that that was the third film’s title.
“We shouldn’t have called it that, though. “The 3 was the ‘e,’ ” said Smith, adding with a laugh, “But this is Bad Boys 4. It’s official!”
The franchise began in 1995 with Bad Boys and so far has produced two sequels: Bad Boys II (2003) and Bad Boys for Life (2020).
News of the fourth movie comes after Smith made headlines for slapping Chris Rock in the face at the 2022 Academy Awards back in March 2022. Lawerence told Ebony magazine in July that the movie was still in development despite the Oscars incident.
“We got one more at least,” Lawrence stated, implying the franchise could extend beyond the next installment.
“It was big,” Lawrence said of launching Bad Boys with Smith in 1995. “For us to come together and prove that we can deliver, and we can pull people into the box office — that two Black stars, two sitcom stars, could make money at the box office [was huge].”
