Devin White, an inside linebacker for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, broke through the A-gap and hammered the Seattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith before blowing a kiss to the sky and making the sign of a cross.
In the third quarter, he repeated the action, this time coming around the corner and taking the ball away from Smith, who was in the position to score at the Tampa Bay 9-yard line. This play helped the Bucs secure a 21-16 victory.
“It was just like, ‘This one is for you,'” said White, who lost his father three days ago. White received a phone call informing him that his father, Carlos Thomas, had passed away unexpectedly at 45, only two hours before the Buccaneers’ chartered flight left for Munich, Germany.
