Necklace Leads to Bust of a Nationwide Catalytic Converter Theft Ring

There has been a huge increase in thefts of catalytic converters across the country. One of the biggest theft rings just got busted, because of a piece of jewelry the person running it posted on Instagram.

Catalytic converters are antipollution car parts laden with platinum, palladium and rhodium that are very valuable. Which is why they are being stolen so frequently. Well the leader of a catalytic converter theft ring was brought down this week, because he went on social media and showed off a necklace he had, with a charm shaped like a catalytic converter.

The owner was suspected to be involved due to a business he operated knowingly purchasing some stolen converters. After posting the photo of his necklace the authorities raided his home and were able to arrest many people across the country involved in the theft ring.
