THROWBACK: Slash, Duff McKagan Make the Censors Sweat at the AMAs
The American Music Awards (AMAs) unveiled their nominees today for their 2022 installment. Understandably, it got us thinking about this classic moment involving Slash and Duff McKagan.
At the 1990 AMAs, Guns N’ Roses won Favorite Heavy Metal Album and Favorite Heavy Metal Artist. To accept the awards on the band’s behalf was an absolutely tanked Slash and McKagan. The first speech found Duff dropping a subtle “s—.” The second trip to the stage, however, led to Slash saying “f—” twice, followed by “wrap it up” music. We assume there was a lot of cursing behind the scenes between the production crew when this happened.
While the cursing was hilarious, our favorite part was how Duff and Slash held hands as they walked up to the stage to accept the first award. It’s evidence that they weren’t just wasted; they were “white girl wasted.” Truthfully, it’s a beautiful thing.
Oh…and if you couldn’t figure it out, the video below contains NSFW language. Obvious? Yes, but it needs to be said just in case.

While some might take issue with Imagine Dragons and Machine Gun Kelly receiving nominations, other rock acts being recognized in these categories include Red Hot Chili Peppers, Foo Fighters, Ghost and Måneskin. In fact, Måneskin nabbed some other noms, including
