Former NBA Player Brings Epic Chicken Restaurant To Clearwater

If you’ve been out on the West coast you might have heard of Epic Wings. The popular chicken wing restaurant franchise is set to open its first Florida location. It is owned and operated by former NBA player T.J. Leaf. Epic Wings has been family owned and operated since 1982. They’re known for their fresh, never frozen traditional and boneless wings, tenderloin strips, homemade breadsticks, sauces & dips, and their famous Epic Fries.

If you’re a basketball fan, you might recognize the name T.J. Leaf from when he played with the Indiana Pacers and Portland Trail Blazers. The San-Diego native has fond memories of eating Epic Wings at weekend games or family events. He hopes to provide the same experiences for families in Clearwater.

Head over to the Tri-City Plaza Shopping Center on East Bay Dr in Clearwater THIS Saturday, August 20, for the grand opening party! The celebration will be happening from 1p.m.-6p.m. and includes a Buy One Single Meal, Get One Free offer that runs through Sunday, August 28. Guests who visit the new location will experience fun activations, games, and a chance to win Free Wings For A Year!

Some highlights from their menu include:

  • Single & Double Meals – Choice of Tenderloin Strips, Boneless Wings, Original Buffalo Wings served with carrots, celery, house-made dressings, and hot oven-fresh bread sticks
  • Buffalo Pizza Sticks – Homemade bread sticks topped with signature buffalo sauce, melted cheese, and boneless buffalo chicken served with ranch for dipping
  • Epic Fries – Crispy fresh-cut fries with melted cheese and boneless buffalo chicken, finished with a chipotle-ranch dressing

Some Of The Beers I Tried At The Bolts Brew Fest

The Bolts Brew Fest made a return for the first time since COVID and we were so excited! Beer and hockey are the perfect combo and it was great to be back at the event since the Lightning have become back-to-back Stanley Cup Champions. Amalie Arena was turned into a sea of breweries that were located throughout the concourse and ice floor (no, the ice was not set up for this event.) With so many brewery options around Tampa Bay, this was a great way to sample a little something from everyone and determine where our official next brewery stop would be.

They had a gaming corner set up at multiple areas in Amalie, including a Mario Kart tournament. But no worries, there was no drinking and driving allowed. Men and women could also test their strength at the stein holding competition. Holding a full stein beer glass is definitely a lot harder than it sounds.

There’s lots to see and do at the Bolts Brew Fest. Below is our list of some of the beers I tried while I was there. Each brewery featured at least 3 different style of beers, such as an IPA, Stout, and Wheat or Ale, but to avoid a night by the toilet I didn’t mix too many styles together. They don’t call me Two Beer Ted for no reason! If you’re heading to a Tampa Bay brewery that was featured in the Bolts Brew Fest, check this list to see if their featured beer is worth trying!
