Five Rays Players Opted Out Of Wearing Pride Night Jerseys
Over the weekend, the Tampa Bay Rays celebrated ‘Pride Night’ at Tropicana Field – but not all the players were on board.
Five players declined to wear the special Pride-themed jerseys and caps during Saturday’s game.
Among the players who didn’t wear the rainbow colors were pitchers Jason Adam, Jalen Beeks, Brooks Raley, Jeffrey Springs, and Ryan Thompson.
Pitcher Jason Adams called it a “faith-based decision” that wasn’t meant to be “judgmental”.
Rays manager Kevin Cash says the team always made the uniforms optional so that they wouldn’t “create any division in the clubhouse”.
Will the Rays face a backlash over this?
