On The Anniversary of Janis Joplin’s Arrest in Tampa… A Steven Tyler Cover of “Piece of My Heart”

I was lucky enough to see Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler do this cover in person when I was visiting Boston few years back.  Steven was on a solo tour trying to launch a country music career.  It didn’t go so well, but this cover he did on that tour of “Piece Of My Heart” was phenomenal.  Take a listen!

It was 51 years ago today Janis was arrested after her Tampa concert at Curtis Hixon Hall. Police let her finish the show, according to Tampa Bay Times. Joplin, 26 at the time, was arrested after telling police officers to chill out on messing with fans in attendance. She was charged with using “vulgar and indecent language.” [Source: Tampa Bay Times]
