Phil Collins’ Ex-Wife Files New Court Docs, Split Continues to Get Ugly
Phil Collins’ split with ex-wife Orianne Cevey continues to get ugly with Cevey filing new court documents pertaining to their current legal issue regarding the couple’s mansion in Miami.
TMZ reports that the documents, which they obtained, state that when Cevey and Collins got back together in 2015, Cevey said Collins “…told her that if she divorced her then-husband, Charles Alami, and relinquished her stake in their $20 million estate on Sunset Island in Miami … he’d give her a 50% stake in their new pad.”
Cevey says in the new documents that she obliged to the deal, however, her relationship with Collins started to deteriorate in 2019. She goes on to allege that Collins “became a hermit…lost his musical talents and began abusing pain killers.” Cevey also makes claims that Collins let his hygiene go saying he “stopped brushing his teeth and refused to shower for damn near a year, from 2019 to 2020.”
These claims are questionable at best considering Collins spent a significant part of 2019 on the road as part of his “Not Dead Yet/Still Not Dead Yet” tour.
This drama began last month when news broke that Collins was in the process of kicking Cevey out of the Miami mansion after she suddenly remarried in Las Vegas in August. Collins and Cevey were married from 1999 to 2008. Cevey remarried but divorced that husband in 2016 and got back together with Collins. Cevey’s marriage in August was seemingly out of nowhere and that she allegedly told Collins “she was just traveling to Las Vegas for business.”
Following that, Collins filed documents stating that Cevey and her new husband, Thomas Bates, “changed the alarm codes, blocked the surveillance cameras, barred entry by vendors and the real estate agent, and were threatening, implicitly and explicitly, to prolong their unlawful occupation of the property through force.” The documents also claimed Cevey and Bates hired armed security guards that were based inside and on the grounds of the $40 million-mansion.
Vanity Fair reported regarding the surprise marriage, “Cevey texted Collins in July telling him that she would ‘like to try to see if I can be happy again’ with another man. After Collins’s enlisted the guidance of his lawyers, his legal team then discovered that Cevey had secretly married 31-year-old businessman Thomas Bates on August 2 and purchased a home for about $1.7 million in Las Vegas in December 2019. As a result, the musician asked his ex to permanently move out of his Miami home, giving her a deadline of Monday, October 12—a deadline she failed to meet.”
