Shark ‘Grabs’ Boy Off Boat
A 10-year-old boy in Australia is okay after being “grabbed” off a boat by a shark on Friday (7/10). The boy and his father were fishing off of the Australian coast.
According CNN, the boy was taken to hospital in stable condition after the attack off the coast of the island state of Tasmania.
A statement on the incident from authorities said “The boy, from the North-West, was aboard a six-metre vessel on a fishing expedition about five kilometres from shore with his father and two other men when a shark grabbed him from the boat.”
Australia has one of the world’s highest incidences of shark attacks. The most recent was a 15-year-old surfer killed last week off the country’s eastern coast.
Earlier in July, a 36-year-old man in the Australian state of Queensland died after being attacked by a shark while spearfishing. And in June, a shark killed a 60-year-old surfer at Salt Beach near Kingscliff on the far north coast of New South Wales.
