Steel Panther’s Michael Starr Cheekily Takes Credit for Motley Crue Reunion
Motley Crue has been dominating the rock news cycle every since they confirmed they’re reuniting, and apparently, we might have Steel Panther to thank for that.
Lead singer Michael Starr was asked about the Crue’s reunion in an interview with The Front Row Report and said, “I knew it was coming, I knew right when they signed [their Cessation of Touring Agreement] six years ago that this was going to happen down the road. It’s just the way it is: they’re too iconic of a band just to go away and never play again…I’m glad that they’re coming back. And I’m glad they’re touring with Def [Leppard] and Poison. It’s gonna be an epic tour that will get everyone excited about rock ‘n’ roll and heavy metal again, and that’s important. That’s what we are trying to do. I don’t know if people realize this, but Motley Crue retired and we kept going. We’re not stopping trying to bring heavy metal back and now, look, they’re back… I’m not gonna say it’s because of us, I’m just saying that we… F-ck, yeah, it’s because of us! We’re bringing heavy metal back.”
Like most things related to Steel Panther, this is obviously very tongue in cheek, but hopefully, it isn’t taken too seriously, especially with the recent war of words between Steel Panther and Motley Crue’s Nikki Sixx. In a recent interview with Little Punk People, Starr and drummer Stix Zadinia were asked if they could bring any musician back from the dead, who would it be. Starr said, “I’d bring back Vince Neil.” Zadinia said, “He’s not dead.” Starr then replied, “I’d bring back the Vince Neil from back in the day because that guy is dead.”
This got back to Sixx who took to Twitter and The singer in steal panther can go fück himself… wanna be band putting down @thevinceneil ? That’s why they are assholes. Backstabbers.
