Slipknot Fan Dies Following Exit from Mosh Pit
A man in his early 60s has died after collapsing outside a mosh pit at a Slipknot show in Illinois over the weekend.
The Patch.com site Tinley Park, Ill. reports that 62-year-old Richard Valadez died on Sunday, August 11 after receiving medical attention during Slipknot’s set at the Hollywood Casino Amphitheater. Valadez had joined a mosh pit that formed in the lawn section, was knocked down at least once but was then hit “fell out of the pit and into the grass” during the band’s performance of “Sulfur.”
A number of witnesses said it took between 15-25 minutes for staff to make their way to treat Valadez, while two concertgoers performed CPR while other help protect the space around Valadez to prevent further injury.
At the time of publishing, the venue nor Slipknot has released a statement about this tragic incident.
