You Could Get Get A Refund On Your Tampa Electric Bill
Money, money , money. We all would like some MONEY!
The Florida Public Service Commission approved a one-time refund for TECO customers on their energy bills in January. Apparently a federal tax law changed in 2017. According to Bay News 9, Tampa Electric used the savings from 2018 to cover the cost of restoring power after Hurricane Irma and several other earlier named storms. After all storm costs were paid, there was a balance remaining of $11.5 million, which will be refunded to Tampa Electric customers in January. The average residential customer, who uses 1,000 kilowatt-hours a month, will see a refund of about $8. Yup… $8… Something is better than nothing, I guess. That will get me a partial burrito at Chipotle. Hey, I am glad TECO is handing out the money to their customers rather than keeping it, there’s that!
