Last night wasn’t supposed to be the home opener for the Tampa Bay Lightning. But Hurricane Milton’s visit delayed our first night of hockey at Amalie Arena. It was worth the wait. The Bolts skated away with their second win of the young season with a 4-1 win over the Vancouver Canucks.
The recovery from Hurricane Milton was on everyone’s mind. The team donated tickets to first responders. A poignant moment in the night was when some linemen from Vancouver got a standing ovation from the sold out Amalie Arena crowd. The team has offered a steep discount to local Bolts fans for the first 3 home games this new Lightning season.
As amazing as Andrei Vasilevskiy was in net, one other thing seemed to be the topic of conversation after the Lightning win: Where’s my free chicken? The 4-1 Tampa Bay Lightning win meant a free double cheeseburger at Wendy’s, wings from Beef O’Brady’s and cheese curds from Culver’s. But what about that free fried chicken sandwich from Chick-fil-A?
Here are some pics from last night as another Lightning season began.
