Many think Valentine’s Day is just a cheesy commercial holiday. But we all have that guilty pleasure Rom-Com movie. A new study by Looper identified which Rom-Com is most popular in each state. Can you guess Florida’s favorite Rom-Com? I’ll give you a hint, it’s a classic late ’90s film.
There are so many good options to choose from. There’s a reason why the genre is such a staple in filmmaking. Do you prefer a movie that tugs at your heartstrings like “When Harry Met Sally“? Or do you like the more comical movies like “The Proposal“? Personally, for me, it’s hard to choose just one. To find the favorite Rom-Com movie in every state, Looper did a serious deep dive. The study looked into IMBb’s list of the 100 best rom-com movies of all time and analyzed the global Google search volume for each movie. It then cross-referenced the findings with IMDb votes and scores and box office lifetime gross to identify the top 15 best rom-coms out there. According to this study, Florida’s favorite Rom-Com is “10 Things I Hate About You“. This movie was the most loved in multiple states including Georgia, Mississippi, Ohio, South Carolina, Washington, and Wisconsin. From the same team that made “Legally Blonde”, this rom-com stars Julia Stiles and Heath Ledger at the start of their careers. Everyone remembers the iconic scene of Heath Ledger singing to “Julia” on the football field. And Kat Stratford’s legendary poem towards the end of the movie.
