Did This Florida Woman Set Tinder Date On Fire Over $60?
There’s never a dull moment with the internet in this day and age. In the 2000s it was sketchy Craigslist meetups gone wrong. Then, it was wild Uber drivers or passengers. Now, this Florida woman was accused of lighting her Tinder date on fire with gasoline.
Things can get wild down in Miami, but last month Destiny Johnson allegedly took things too far – per Miami Dade Police Department. According to an arrest affidavit, police said that the woman had met her Tinder date in a motel back on November 25.
According to investigators, Johnson had allegedly told her date that he needed money to fix her vehicle shortly after he arrived at the motel. The affidavit shows that Johnson approached his vehicle with a gallon jug and the date offered Johnson $60 cash.
Police said that Johnson became hostile and began yelling at her date while pouring the jug, apparently filled with gasoline, into his car. When he tried to defend himself by pushing the jug out of the vehicle, more liquid spilled inside the vehicle as well as on himself, according to police.
Detectives said that Johnson decided to light the liquid with a lighter which resulted in setting the vehicle, her date and herself on fire. Investigators reported that while the vehicle flames got higher, the date attempted to put out the flames on himself by rolling on the ground. Moments later, the date fled the scene to run for safety, according to police.
Is Destiny Johnson in Jail?
A few hours after the attack, police had received reports that a burned naked woman had blown up a vehicle and she was taken to a hospital to treat her burns, according to reports. Destiny Johnson was taken into custody on Monday December 4th on attempted murder, first degree arson and battery charges, reports showed. Johnson is currently being held on a $30,000 bond.
