Florida Big Brother Contestant Gets Kicked Off The Show After Using a Racial Slur
You probably won’t see it on television, but fans watching a live stream of the goings on inside the Big Brother house didn’t miss it. 30 year old Luke Valentine from Weston, Florida has been eliminated from the annual summer game after using the N-word, according to Channel 10. The CBS reality show airs locally here in Tampa on Channel 10.

One of twenty-eight cameras behind a two-way mirror is set up for the new reality-based show “Big Brother” when it debuted on CBS July 5, 2000. “Big Brother” features ten strangers, totally cut-off from the outside world, co-existing in an isolated house.
Contestants live in a house in Hollywood for the summer, cut off from the outside world. No TV. No cell phones. One by one they vote each other out until one contestant is left, who wins hundreds of thousands of dollars. The entire time cameras are rolling 24/7. Highlights of the show are seen on the TV show. But fans can log on and watch anytime online.
The moment where Valentine uttered the racial slur was seen online by viewers who subscribe to the live feeds from inside the house. In what was said to be a casual conversation, Valentine laughed after saying the word, according to Channel 10. He covered his mouth while the others in the conversation appeared shocked. Valentine tried to dismiss the slip by saying “Dude… anyways.” Big Brother producers released a statement saying they have a zero tolerance policy for racial slurs in the house. Valentine’s departure will be mentioned on tonight’s live broadcast. Big Brother winner Andy Herren tweeted that the show “loves hiding racism and homophobia and transphobia when straight white men are involved.” Herren went on to say the part that bothered him the most was how Valentine said the N-word “so casually.”
It’s not the first time a Florida contestant on Big Brother has rubbed fans the wrong way. Fitness instructor Jack Matthews drew criticism in 2019. [Source: Channel 10]
