Frontier’s All-You-Can-Fly Pass: Here’s The Catch
If you’re a frequent flyer, you might want to consider hopping on this limited-time deal from Frontier. The airline has launched an all-you-can-fly GoWild! Pass, which allows passholders to book unlimited flights for U.S. destinations, including Puerto Rico. Frontier’s all-you-can-fly pass is selling for $599 and is good for 12 months. Flights will be available to book and fly starting May 2, 2023.
If you read the fine print however, you can see that there’s still some more money to cough up after buying your pass. Here’s how it works:
Annual passholders will log into their Frontier account and select their flight the day before departure date. For each flight, you’ll pay a penny, that’s right, $0.01 in airfare. What’s not included in this deal is taxes, fees, and other charges at the time of booking like bags and seats. Current government and airport taxes, fees and charges start at approximately $14.60 per person, per flight. So it’s a great deal if you don’t care where you sit on the plane and if you can pack everything in 1 personal item. However, if you’re like me and overpack, you’ll have to pay more for extra baggage.
Another catch is if you’re already a Frontier elite member, flights booked with this pass will not count as Elite status qualifying miles. You also can’t book a roundtrip flight in the same payment. Meaning if you book the ticket to your destination, it’s possible there might not be a seat available on the way back.
One last catch is that the all-you-can-fly pass has a lot of black out dates, especially around the holidays. So don’t rely on this pass for holiday travel. Here are the blackout periods:
- 2023: May 25, 26, 29; June 29, 30; July 1-5, 8, 9; August 31; September 1, 4; October 5, 6, 9; November 18, 22, 24-27; December 16, 17, 22-24, 26-31;
- 2024: January 1, 15; February 15, 16, 19; March 3, 10, 15-17, 22-24, 29-31; April 5-7, 12-14. Blackout dates for May 2024 and beyond will be posted in advance of accepting any enrollments for pass periods which cover those dates.
