Florida Target Nearly Burns Down After Shoplifters Start Fire
Florida authorities are searching for “multiple” suspects after a group of shoplifters started a fire inside a Fort Lauderdale Target store.
The blaze occurred Wednesday evening after the thieves set some clothing on fire in an effort to create a diversion while they shoplifted, according to Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue. Surveillance footage shows several people leave with stolen merchandise while employees scramble to evacuate the store.
It took firefighters more than 30 minutes to extinguish the rapidly-spreading fire, which ended up destroying most of the store’s clothing department, an employee reveals. As of Friday afternoon, none of the suspects have been identified, police say.
