Florida Woman Loses Lottery Winnings After USPS Loses Ticket
Sue Burgess is pissed, and I totally get it. She won $1,000 in a second-chance drawing in the Florida lottery. she did as told, sending the ticket via certified mail via the Post Office. she got a receipt for her package and everything. That’s where everything fell apart. weeks passed and the lottery commission never contacted her. When she finally called to check on her winnings, they said they had never gotten it. They also told her that her prize was officially forfeited. Burgess followed the rules. She sent the ticket via certified mail. she dropped off the ticket and got a receipt. But still, she’s screwed. Tracking information even showed that the ticket was received way back on August 12th at 7:12 a.m. As expected, the USPS has no idea where the ticket went. In a recent update, the lottery commission said if the mail is found and it can be proven that it was received within the allotted time, they will give the woman her money. It’s been 6 weeks, however, so she may be screwed. – Sean Roberts
