Tampa Bay Insurance Company Awarded Woman $10K For Reading Fine Print
This Georgia teacher just scored $10,000 by doing something we are supposed o do… read the fine print.
Is this just me or does this remind you of a “South Park” episode? I am constantly having to read terms and conditions that I just scroll to the bottom and click the “I Agree” button. This behavior will not happen anymore after this woman from Georgia won herself a good chunk of change from a Florida travel insurance company just by reading the fine print.
… if only I were that smart…
According to WFLA News Channel 8, a statement from the insurance company says the winner claimed the prize 23 hours after the contest began.
The St. Petersburg-based company says it launched the secret contest Feb. 11. Buried in the fine print was a promise of $10,000 for the first person to send an email to a specific address.
The Company even said they will be giving an additional $10k to a children’s literacy charity AND $5k each to the two schools where the winner teaches in Georgia. What a nice insurance company…
Now, are you wondering what the winner is going to do with the money? Well, not only did she apply for retirement a week before winning the $10k BUT, according to WFLA News Channel 8, she is using the money to head off to Scotland with her husband to celebrate their 35th wedding anniversary.
It is as if she looked into the future.
LIFE LESSON: Always read the fine print!
