Gerald McCoy Will Continue To Represent The Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Veteran defensive tackle, Gerald McCoy, is one of them, will be back on the Tampa Bay Bucs field next season.
This comes after much speculation and debate…
“Bucs coach Bruce Arians and his staff have evaluated McCoy’s performance and believe he will be a good fit in the 3-4 scheme under defensive coordinator Todd Bowles.” According to the Tampa Bay Times.
McCoy, 31, will also reportedly keep his 2019 salary of $13-million. However, there is still time left for some form of restructuring if both sides choose to do so.
Many feel McCoy would not have been a fit in a 3-4 base defense. From the start that wasn’t necessarily true since the Bucs have flirted with that alignment in the past and the 10-year veteran also played on the end of Oklahoma’s defensive line on several occasions during his college career. Under new defensive coordinator Todd Bowles the defense won’t be exclusive to a 3-4 alignment. So bringing back a guy like McCoy could have been in their plans all along. According to Bucs Nation.
