Guy Skypes His Parents While Skydiving In Viral Video
A guy Skyped his parents while skydiving in a video that’s since gone viral. I’d be scared of losing my phone.
Skydiving is something I can confidently say I will never do in my lifetime. Heights aren’t my thing and I would probably faint before even getting on the plane. However, this guy clearly feels differently. He’s so comfortable while skydiving that he was able to Skype his parents! He executed a video call with them while falling from the sky and their reaction is nothing short of adorable. You can see the viral video on Reddit below.

Wouldn’t he be scared of dropping his phone? He must have had it secured in some sort of way in order to pull this off successfully. I feel like it definitely wasn’t his first time skydiving and he’s had to have done it before. Commenters on Reddit noticed how happy the mom is for her son on video even at one point saying, “I just photographed you.” Adorable. I don’t think I would get that same reaction from my mom. She’d probably be scared because she would know that there’s no way I would ever do that willingly. Who made me do it? What’s going on? Was I kidnapped?
The video came about thanks to Hostelworld who met Roger, from Ireland, who (quite literally) jumped at the chance to take part in a 14,000 foot skydive with a twist, per Unilad. On its YouTube channel, Hostelworld wrote, “We all know it’s normal to call your parents whilst traveling, usually from the comfort of a hostel or cafe. But why not share your travel adventures with them first hand? This is exactly what Roger did. Moments after his plane started its ascent, his parents Pat and Mary received and unexpected call from their son.” Hopefully it was their phone and not his! I know making phone calls or texting while out of the country can be expensive, I can’t imagine what a FaceTime from the sky would end up costing.
In the video, Roger is seen Skyping his parents and they can’t tell what’s going on at first but they eventually realize that he’s skydiving and calling them at the same time. Honestly, I didn’t know Skype was still a thing. I thought Zoom took care of them a while ago but it’s good to see them back in the news and still being used by some people. Good for you, Skype. I figured it was a FaceTime call but Skype wins this one.
