Filipino Gymnast Carlos Yulo Receiving Ridiculous Rewards For Winning 2 Gold Medals
Filipino gymnast Carlos Yulo is now a made man! After winning 2 gold medals in the Paris Games, he’s now receiving a ridiculous list of rewards back home.
Olympic athletes aren’t often paid like you’d expect them to be. They make far less money than one would think after being in the spotlight, training their whole lives, and representing their country. That’s why they turn to sponsorship (or OnlyFans). Now, Filipino gymnast Carlos Yulo is getting some serious perks when he returns to the Philippines.
Filipino Gymnast Carlos Yulo Rewards For Winning 2 Gold Medals
In the United States, we’ve become accustomed to winning gold medals. It’s almost expected that we win one if we’re going to compete. Athletes representing the U.S.A. have won golds in all sorts of events from track and field to basketball and everywhere in between. However, other countries aren’t as used to winning gold medals. In fact, prior to this year, the Philippines had only won one gold medal in 100 years of participating! Of course, that was until Carlos Yulo came along.
Carlos Yulo won 2 gold medals at the Paris Olympics, essentially tripling his country’s gold medal count within the past couple of weeks. Think it isn’t a big deal? You’d be wrong. He’s reportedly receiving a ridiculous list of perks and rewards after securing 2 gold medals in the games. According to The New York Post, Yulo is receiving a 3-bedroom condo that’s estimated to be worth $414,000. Originally, it was going to be a 2-bedroom but after he won his second gold medal it was upgraded to a 3-bedroom.
That’s not all he’ll be receiving. The New York Post says he’ll also be receiving north of ten million Philippine pesos (which is roughly $173,000), a voucher worth $20,000 in a department store, unlimited entry at a local buffet chain, and a lifetime supply of ramen! It’s also been reported that he will receive unlimited colonoscopies and gastroenterology consultations. That’s a very unique and different perk but super important, nonetheless.
Thanks to his impressive efforts and skills, the Philippines became one of the only countries with numerous gold medals in gymnastics at the Paris Olympics. The United States, Japan, and China are also on that list. The New York Post points out that those 3 countries have already amassed 150 combined Olympic medals thus far in the 2024 Olympic Games. Prior to Carlos Yulo, weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz was the first Filipino athlete to earn a gold medal during the Tokyo Games.
