The man claimed to have found the reptile that way, but investigators quickly discovered it was him the entire time.
Florida Man Arrested Trying To Lasso Alligator:
Robert Colin, 71, from Cape Canaveral is now facing a felony charge of injuring a gator without authority after police arrived to capture a gator nearby. According to FoxNews35, “Colin allegedly used a white nylon rope to lasso the gator around its upper jaw and tied the reptile to a handrail. After capturing the alligator, Colin called 911 and told deputies he found the gator tied to the handrail.” However, when police reviewed video footage from the area it told a completely different story.
In the video footage, it showed Colin using the white nylon rope to create a loop to catch the gator. Colin later admitted that the gator was a nuisance in the neighborhood because he had begun eating turtles about three years ago. Colin said he would walk to feed the turtles but also admitted to feeding several gators in the area. He said he called animal control several times but never got a response and wanted to protect any other animals in the area like cats or dogs. Colin’s was arrested for a felony even though he said he was never told about the crime from police. Sadly, the gator ultimately had to be euthanized.
