This Is Florida’s Favorite Christmas Song

Christmas music can be the most loved and hated part of the holiday. We know some people who start blasting Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas” the day after Thanksgiving. Those who work in retail probably wish they could work with noise-canceling headphones in. Finance Buzz recently surveyed the most loved and hated Christmas songs in each state. They used Google Trends to find the most popular Christmas song in every state. They also surveyed more than 1,200 U.S. adults to find the most annoying Christmas songs. Keep scrolling to find out Florida’s favorite Christmas song.

What did they find?

  1. The 1953 classic “Santa Baby,” sung by the legendary Eartha Kitt, was the most popular song in eight different states.
  2. One of the most ~trendiest~ Christmas songs is also the most hated. “All I Want For Christmas” by Mariah Carey was named the most annoying Christmas song in the survey, which probably means that people agree that it’s the most overplayed song throughout the holidays.
  3. Kelly Clarkson’s 2013 song “Underneath the Tree” is the only song released in the last decade that’s loved by at least 4 different states.

Here are the top 5 most annoying Christmas songs

The most annoying Christmas song is Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas”. Even though this is the most popular song in many states like New York, Delaware, Georgia, and more. We bet a lot of people in other states get really tired of hearing it by the time December comes. The second song on the list was The Chipmunk Song (Christmas Don’t Be Late) by Alvin and the Chipmunks. No explanation is needed there. The third song ranked as most annoying is Florida’s favorite, we’ll get to that in a second.  The 4th most hated Christmas song is A Holly Jolly Christmas by Burt Ives. “Baby It’s Cold Outside” ranked number 5 as the most annoying Christmas song. So what’s Florida’s favorite Christmas song?

Florida, Texas, and New Mexico all have the same favorite Christmas song. Even though this song ranked #3 on the most annoying Christmas songs list, Floridians seem to love it. Our favorite Christmas song is Feliz Navidad. Admit it, even if you only speak a little Spanish, that’s always a fun song to sing along to.

One of our favorite holiday traditions is driving around neighborhoods in the Tampa metro area to see some of the best Christmas lights displays. Scroll down to see our favorite neighborhoods.

There are plenty of events and options to see some dazzling Christmas displays. But keep in mind how much you’ll have to pay to get in and how much you’ll spend on holiday-themed drinks, snacks, etc. Some families work for days to get their houses lit up beautifully for the holidays. Spending your Christmas in Tampa

We have a lot of non-traditional holiday celebrations in Tampa. While many other cities can take advantage of winter-themed celebrations, we have to get creative in the Sunshine State. Light-up boat parades are one of the more popular Florida Christmas events, you can see Christmas sand sculptures or make “sand angels”. And all of our theme parks transform into a holiday paradise.  Here are some unique ways you can spend your Christmas day in Tampa.

When driving around the area gazing at lights, remember to respect the privacy of the families in their houses. Try not to park in front of their yard or ask them to keep their displays on longer. Also, keep in mind some families might turn off their displays when it’s raining. We got our inspiration for this list from a Reddit thread and added a few of our favorites.

These are the Tampa Bay neighborhoods with dazzling Christmas light displays

  • Bayshore Blvd/Hyde Park

    You could spend hours just admiring the houses along Bayshore Blvd and in Hyde Park, but during the holidays it’s another level. The best street is South Boulevard between Swann and Bayshore.

  • The Lights of Lake Park Estates

    The neighborhoods of Lake Park Estates, Wieker, Lakeside Estates, and Lake Seminole Village, generously decorate their homes and yards with over 3.0 miles of Christmas Lights and Decorations for the public to enjoy. Donations are accepted at the Suncoast Hospice Cart located along the route. 100% of the donations are provided to Suncoast Hospice to support their community activities. Find more info here.

  • Indian Trails - Palm Harbor

    This Palm Harbor neighborhood has been going all out for the holidays for YEARS! You can drive down any street in this neighborhood and find all of the houses decked out in lights.

  • Oakdale Mega Light Display

    The St Petersburg Oakdale neighborhood has been putting on this nationally recognized Christmas display for 46 YEARS! They have 500,000 lights, fantastic 18 Train HO Scale Model Railroad and more! They’ll be open from Friday November 24, 2023 to January 3, 2024. Click here for more info.

  • Temple Terrace

    This neighborhood in Temple Terrace starts decorating for Christmas in SEPTEMBER! So you know the stroll through the neighborhood is worth it.

  • Streamside Drive in Carrollwood

    This Tampa neighborhood goes all out every year for the holidays. Drive by houses with decked out lights, inflatables, and a light show tuned to a radio station!

  • Honorary Mention: Chick-Fil-A on Waters

    Any Tampa local knows all about the Chick-Fil-A on Waters Ave in Town n’ Country. Every year this stores Christmas lights display gets bigger and bigger. We can’t wait to see what they do this year!
