How Much Does Buc-ee’s Really Pay
Buc-ee’s is not a gas station. It is an experience. From their humble beginnings in 1982 in Glute,TX, Buc-ee’s has become a thing of legend and lore. Founder Arch “Beaver” Alpin opened his first massive mega-facility in 2003. In 2018, the “Beaver” moved outside of Texas. Now there are stores in a bunch of southern states with plans to expand in the Mid-West over the next few years.
The easiest way to explain Buc-ee’s is to use the old acronym “IYKYK”. Because If you know, then, believe me, you know! In Florida, there are currently two stores open. One in St. Augustine and the other in Daytona. The third Buc-ee’s will roll out next year near Ocala, and recently, I heard a rumor that the fourth Florida store might be coming to Ft. Pierce.
The part about Buc-ee’s that is seemingly overlooked is their pay plan for the employees. If you’ve been to one of the locations there is an army of employees at each store to handle the endless waves of customers coming through. But the question is… How’s the pay?
In two words, let me tell ya. NOT BAD! According to Indeed.com:
A cashier can make $18 an hour, a Stocking Associate or a Janitor you can make $18. If you always had a dream of being a Car Wash attendant, the pay is $21 an hour. A Car Wash assistant manager makes $33/hour.
Would you like to work in the deli? The Deli Staff gets $21 an hour.
Manger’s make. a good living too. Car Wash manager pulls in about $125,000 a year. The food service manager gets about $150,000 and the big boss of the store, the General Manager could make well over $200,000. In addition to decent pay, they offer Health Insurance, along with Dental and Vision coverage. As well as three weeks of paid leave a year and a 401K plan with a match of 6%.
All things considered, working at Buc-ee’s looks like a pretty good deal.
