Sarasota swimmer takes silver in the Summer Games!
Emma Weyant won the silver medal in the Women’s 400m individual medley. She came in behind Japan’s Ohashi.
Team USA took both the silver and bronze (won by Hali Flickinger) in this race.
Weyant, in her first Olympics, swims for the Sarasota Sharks at the Selby Aquatic Center. She will be an incoming freshman at the University of Virginia this fall.
This isn’t the only medal coming back to the area. Anastasija Zolotic of Largo won the first Team USA medal ever in Women’s Taekwodo.
